6/10/2006 - Top Alcohol wins in funny car duel Another excellent day WA is famous for was ever present
for this week's racing. And many cars turned up to aim for victory this week. 15/9/2006 - Zero adds infinite excitement against TA/FC A fine 27degC day produced a cool and pleasant evening, and what better way than to pit wits and electric motors against each other in a motorised duel? We couldn't think of an answer either, so we did the usual thing and raced to our heart's content. 18 of WA's finest (very) small block motored cars turned out t win through to the final places, and on a clean track, times proved to be hectic and exciting for all involved. Semi-finals saw Miyagi's Top Alcohol MAD Funny Car take lane 1, with lane 2 featuring a surprise in the name of Calum McIlwraith, whose car, was definitely healthier than in weeks previous. With Calum's Citgo Camaro dialling in time of 1.100, the TA/FC was going to be waiting a long time to find out if it's DI of 0.585 was good enough. With Claum's car faltering in the tricky glue conditions, Miyagi rolled yet another 0.591 out, putting among the most consistent high end cars for a long while. Jason Hunter took the green in a solo which put him into the final against Miyagi. The Oldsmobile Funny Car D/FC has gained ground in the ET race again, running 0.790 earlier in the night, but it definitely had it's work cut out in the final. The Zero-built car dialled an 0.810 into the computer whilst the methanol car was going to stick with 0.585. With a 0.592 time recorded but a slower reaction, Miyagi was beaten to the line by Jason, running 0.822 to take out the DYO event. AA/FC runs for Chad Raven proved to be useful data for him after the race, whilst the Road Rage AA/FC driven by Miyagi was frustatingly burning some braid. Dave Hunter had a loan TA/FC, which saw race action, but had traction woes all night which limited it's data collecting. 1/9/2006 - Dry evening makes perfect race weather After the enthralling spectacular at the WA Invitionals
2006, it was time to head back to XSR normality and battle it out against the
dial-in clock. 14 XSR superstars took to the track and entertain in the only
way possible: close racing! View Race Reports up to 31st August 2006
