Miyagi crack's 1000ft ton

It's always a good feeling to have new record under your belt, and "Miyagi" had a belt as big as you can get when he reset the AA/Fuel record with his self-named Funny Car.

With the first run set at 0.408@101.93mph, everyone was pleased to see a three digit MPH reading for the first time on the track's latest format.  But that was not the last of the wonder car's abilities...

... as Miyagi made a three tenth run look easy, making it one of, if not Australia's quickest double A run ever.  A big congratulations to Miyagi from all involved at XSR.

AA/Fuel class racing had unfortunately not planned out the way it was supposed to for Craig Britten when his motor expired before the race meet.  With "Miyagi" electing not to race, a three way battle was on between Shane Boekhout in the re-motored Britten Funny Car versus Chad Raven's pair of 7s.  With Chad gaining the win against Shane and having a bye into the final, Chad won the final on a solo effort.

Farrell back and winning

Yes, at long last, the Big Man is back and was making a mockery of the opposition, taking out the X/Mod class and winning himself a Nova Pro Stocker in the process.

With his opponent Jason Hunter unsettled by a violent rollover accident in his Hot Rod Coupe in one of the previous class rounds, Jason had qualifying top spot and class win by a healthy margin, although 'Little Jase' was catching up hard.

Index classes make everyone a winner

Super Gas 0.990 Index was the first to make some healthy race action, with everyone unsure of backing or going full throttle on their respective runs.  Craig Britten took top qualifying spot, but the winner was 3rd qualifier Jason Hunter showing the field some consistent times to take home a Super Bee muscle car, beating off the Citgo Firebird D/FC of Dave Hunter in it's best showing ever.

Super Comp 0.900 Index was even more of an eyecatcher to all involved as this is where most of the field sit respectively on average.  And it sure did show, with the top time of qualifying going to a surprised Calum McIlwraith in the 7Eleven Camaro B/Gas with a 0.931.  But the news of the class had to be the three way battle behind him as Dave Hunter's Nova 93.7 HQ C/Gas with a full-on 0.937, "Miyagi's" Greene Machine F/FC with a 0.938 and Dave again with the returning Jungle Jim X/M with a barnstorming 0.939 to make one of the most anticipated races yet.

In the end, Dave Hunter and Chad Raven made up the final with the G12-powered Mind Games Mustang taking on another G12 in the form of the Riviera B/Gas.  The win light headed Dave Hunter's way this time, with a 1957 Bel Air kit for the effort.

Super DYO class entertains as usual

Everyone love's their dial-in competition, so it was once again home to the most varied fields of the meet and proved that anything can win.

Normally a class where the slower cars shine in the spotlight from their more powerful brethren, Chad Raven tore up the script and run rampant to a class win and a new record for Top Alcohol class.

Beating off the Nova 93.7 HQ C/Gas of Dave Hunter, Chad was pleased to win a class and put his Mach 1 Mustang prize up for grabs to the winner of next Friday's race.
